Dinghy Landing

24x32 oil on panel
This is a scene from Shelter Island.
Have painted this scene a few times before, but needed to take another shot at it.
This time I did some sketches, moving the boats around to make a better composition. Was a lot of work but I think worth it.

I am currently working on another at this size, but am not sure if I will ever finish.
These big paintings are a lot of work.

Arch of Septimius Severus

18x24 oil on panel
This is my second painting from my 2016 trip to Rome.
This arch is located in the Forum and the row of columns on the left is what remains of the Temple of Saturn.
Look forward to painting more Roman ruins.

Organ Pavilion with Trees

9x12 oil on panel
I really find this scene fascinating.
The mesh of tree branches in the foreground and dapled light on the building are a great combination.
Plan to paint this a few more times as I really enjoy this subject.

Ruins of San Juan Capistrano

10x14 oil on panel
These are the ruins of the Great Stone Church at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Magnifiscent building that sadly only lasted a few years before an earthquake brought much of it down.
They never tryed to rebuild and the ruins remain in memory of those that lost their lives in the great tragedy.

Casa del Prado

12x16 oil on panel
This is one of the many ornate buildings in Balboa Park.
I have painted this building a few times before but was never satified with the results.
This one comes close, but I hope to tackle it again.
A very difficult subject, but too intriguing to resist.

This is what remains of the Temple of Apollo in Rome.
I visited Rome back in 2016, can't believe that five years have already passed.

Pidgeon House Bridge
12x16 oil on panel
I just found this painting at the bottom of stack of work I did the summer before last.
Forgot that I had done this one, but I put my signature on it so I must have felt it was finished.
I did this from a copyright free photo I found online.
