Arch of Septimius Severus

18x24 oil on panel
This is my second painting from my 2016 trip to Rome.
This arch is located in the Forum and the row of columns on the left is what remains of the Temple of Saturn.
Look forward to painting more Roman ruins.

Organ Pavilion with Trees

9x12 oil on panel
I really find this scene fascinating.
The mesh of tree branches in the foreground and dapled light on the building are a great combination.
Plan to paint this a few more times as I really enjoy this subject.

Ruins of San Juan Capistrano

10x14 oil on panel
These are the ruins of the Great Stone Church at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Magnifiscent building that sadly only lasted a few years before an earthquake brought much of it down.
They never tryed to rebuild and the ruins remain in memory of those that lost their lives in the great tragedy.

Row of Eucalyptus Trees

16x20 oil on panel
I came across this scene on the way to the Pala Mission.
Lots of beautiful countryside in this area.
This is a dirt road right off the main highway.

Casa del Prado

12x16 oil on panel
This is one of the many ornate buildings in Balboa Park.
I have painted this building a few times before but was never satified with the results.
This one comes close, but I hope to tackle it again.
A very difficult subject, but too intriguing to resist.

Tourmaline Beach Cliffs

9x12 oil on panel
These are cliffs that overlook the Tourmaline Surfing Beach in North Pacific Beach.
Very interestng collection of shapes and lines in these cliffs.
Hope to do a larger version of this.
A subject like this has endless possibilities.
